A microphone test device (MTD) helps to determine whether the
microphone is providing an adequate signal. It allows you to carry
out a listening check of the processor. This kit includes
everything you need to use the MTD with the
Sonnet MED-EL CI processors. (It can also be
used with
OPUS 2 processors with the addition of a
DCM8082 lead, purchased separately.)
Includes: the standard MTD, plus an adaptor lead for use with SONNET processors, headphones & battery for MTD and FineTuner.
The SONNET MTD adapter included in this kit enables wireless
transmission of the SONNET microphone signals via the attached
audio processor coil (D-coil and DL-Coil).
To use the MTD: Plug the MTD SONNET adaptor cable into the MTD. Plug the accompanying earphones into the earphone jack of the MTD. Remove the SONNET from the user's head and activate the 'monitoring' mode using the FineTuner. Turn on the MTD and place the coil of the processor onto the flat side of the SONNET MTD adaptor. Using the earphones, speak into the SONNET microphone and listen to the quality of your voice. The MTD has a volume control so that the sound level can be adjusted for the listener. If the sound is scratchy or of poor quality, the microphone may need to be cleaned or repaired. Contact MED-EL or the implant center for repair or replacement options.
NOTE: If no signal is heard, push the Self-Test button on the MTD.
If the MTD is working properly, a beeping sound will be present.
The MTD features an LED that emits a green light if the MTD battery
is good and a red light if the battery is low.
The MTD uses 1 rechargeable or alkaline AA battery (included).
Note: it is also possible to use a MTD with a RONDO but it
requires a Mini Battery Pack and connecting cables, purchased
separately.
